Your balloon ride with British School of Ballooning will now take place with Virgin Balloon Flights. While many of Virgin’s launch sites are in the same counties, the actual locations you fly from may differ.

Guildford is our main launch site for balloon flights in Surrey. It’s just 10 minutes from the main A3 London to Portsmouth road at Shalford Park. For some wind directions we may use our back up site at Farnham and when large events are on at Shalford Park we can also use our take off site at Godalming. If the wind is coming from the south coast and would mean that we would reach Heathrow Airspace too quickly from any of our Surrey sites, we may hop over the county border to Hampshire or Sussex to give us more space and fly from our West Meon or Petworth launch site. From here your balloon ride may drift over Haslemere or the pretty village of Chiddingfold. 

The terrain also makes it a very popular walking country, with nearby Blackdown, a towering mass in the Weald of West Sussex being the highest point almost 300 metres above sea level. Lord Tennyson, the Victorian poet enjoyed and was perhaps inspired by his walks along what is now the National Trust site at Blackdown.
